Bebi Dol

Bebi Dol, born Dragana Šarić on 2 October 1962 in Belgrade, is a Serbian pop singer. Her father, Milisav Šarić, was a jazz saxophonist, and she spent part of her early childhood in Copenhagen before going to the Mokranjac music school in Belgrade.

She began in the band Tarkus, formed with fellow music-school students, sang backing vocals on YU Grupa's Samo napred... (1979) and was a guest on Igra Staklenih Perli's Vrt svetlosti (1980). With Goran Vejvoda she formed the short-lived Annoda Rouge. Her solo debut, the 1981 single "Mustafa" / "Na planeti uzdaha", was named Record of the Year by the magazine Džuboks.

Her first album, Ruže i krv (1983), brought "Superboj" and the title song. At Jugovizija 1983 in Novi Sad she finished sixth with "Rudi", a song inspired by Rudolph Valentino; on 13 June 1983 she gave her first solo concert at Atelje 212 and then toured with Zdravko Čolić. From 1984 to 1986 she lived in Cairo, singing at the Sheraton. Back home she won at MESAM with "Inšalah" in 1986, took second place there with "Slatke suze ljubavi" in 1988 and won the jury's special award with "Kad sreća odlazi" in 1989, and she was fourth and third at Jugovizija in 1987 and 1988. In 1990 she sang "Bez srca" at MESAM.

In 1991 she won Jugovizija in Sarajevo with "Brazil" and sang it at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rome, finishing second to last with one point. It was the last official entry of Yugoslavia as a whole, and the song has since gained a cult following.

After some time in Paris she returned to Serbia and released Ritam srca (1995), with "Hajde da" and two versions of "Brazil", then Ljuta sam... (2002), the English-language covers album Čovek rado izvan sebe živi (2006) and the live Veče u pozorištu (2007). She has sung as a guest with Leb i Sol, Idoli, Bulevar, Bajaga i Instruktori and Massimo Savić, with whom she recorded "Sunce sja, trava miriše", and on Naos by Laza Ristovski. In 2006 "Rudi" was ranked No. 43 on the B92 Top 100 Domestic Songs list.
