Slomljena Stakla

Slomljena Stakla ("Broken Glass") were a pop rock band from Belgrade, Serbia, led by the singer and composer Zoran Vasilić. In 1980 Vasilić formed the band Sebastijan and then played guitar in Lutka, with Jelena Tinska on vocals; the new band took its name from a verse of Lutka's song "Šminka".

The first line-up was Vasilić, guitarist Dragan Zarić "Zare", bassist Aleksandar "Sale" Živanović, drummer Mladen Lukač and keyboard player Milan Stanković "Mika". The debut album "Psiho klub" (1983), produced by Srđan Marjanović for ZKP RTLJ, gave them the hit "Još jedna votka". After it, keyboard player Dragan Petrović, formerly of Pasta ZZ and Crni Baron, replaced Stanković.

"Ljubav je kad...", produced by Saša Habić and released by Jugoton in the autumn of 1984, was their most successful album. Its songs, written by Zarić and Vasilić, included "Una", "Monsunski vetrovi", "Leto je, devojko", the title song and the instrumental "Senke u noći", and "Monsunski vetrovi" / "Leto je devojko" came out as a single. Bassist Vladan Vasiljević and drummer Ivan Ranković joined after the album, but in mid-1985 the band went on hiatus despite its success.

"Samo ljubav može to" (1988, PGP RTB) turned to guitar-driven power pop with some folk touches, recorded by Vasilić, Petrović and keyboard player Milorad Džmerković. The last album, "Samo za tebe" (1991, Jugodisk), produced by Vasilić and Duda Bezuha, brought "Sledi me", "Ivana", written by Boris Novković, and a new version of "Još jedna votka". At the MESAM festival the band sang "Ivana" in 1990 and won the audience prize with "Crna tvoja čipkica" in 1991. After "Samo za tebe" the band ended its activity.

Milorad Džmerković also played keyboards for Kerber, touring with them in the 1980s while their keyboard player served in the army; he died on 26 September 2022. Dragan Petrović moved to Canada in 1992 and turned to jazz. "Monsunski vetrovi" appeared on the compilations "Zaplešimo!" in 1984 and 1997, and "Još jedna votka, još jedno pivo" on "Evergreen Hitovi 80's Inside Vol. 1" (2011).
