Aco Pejović

Aco Pejović, born Aleksandar Pejović on 18 April 1972 in Prijepolje, is a Serbian pop-folk singer who also plays the piano. He grew up in Prijepolje, where his parents Anđelka and Isidor both worked at the textile works "Ljubiša Miodragović", and he came to love music as a boy. At fourteen he left home for the secondary music school in Podgorica, Montenegro, and lived in a student dormitory he later remembered as cold and run-down, calling those years a hard time.

In 1994 he moved to Belgrade, where he still lives; his first performances there were at the pizzeria "Bata" in Zvezdara. His debut album, Viđaš li je druže moj, came out on Best Records in 2000 and earned him the Oskar popularnosti for best debut. The breakthrough came with his second album, Prevara (2002), with "Prevara", "Pet minuta" and "Ne diraj mi noći". Opušteno followed in 2004 and won the Zlatni melos and Melco awards, and the same year he sang "Ne umem da te ne volim" at Pjesma Mediterana in Budva, taking second place with the audience.

For Grand produkcija Aco Pejović recorded Neverna (2006), the album with "Jelena", "Litar krvi", "Neverna" and "Spavaš li", and U mojim venama (2007). At the Grand festival he sang "Ne zovite je" in 2008 and "Doživotna" in 2010. Further albums came in 2010, then Sve ti dugujem (2013), Parče neba (2015) and Hotel tuge (2024).

He has recorded duets with Dženan Lončarević ("Uspomene", 2010), Zorica Brunclik ("Danas neću plakati", 2013), Aleksandra Prijović ("Litar vina litar krvi", 2017), Edita Aradinović ("Blud i nemoral", 2018) and Emina Jahović ("Rano je"). In 2013 he gave a solo concert at the Belgrade Arena before 21,000 people, and he has also played Pionir Hall, Zetra and Skenderija in Sarajevo, the Boris Trajkovski centre in Skopje and Zagreb Arena.

For Dragan Bjelogrlić's 2021 film about Toma Zdravković he sang "Ponoć". "Fatalna doza" was named modern folk song of the year at the 2019 Music Awards Ceremony, and in 2023 the same ceremony named him singer of the year. He has been married to Biljana since March 1994, and they have three daughters.
