About Baja

Baja is a Bosnian-Serbian singer of pop-folk music. He was born Nedeljko Bajić on 9 June 1968 in Šipovo, near Jajce, into a Bosnian Serb working family, and grew up with two brothers and two sisters; his father died when he was a small child. He has made music since the age of six, and he trained at a school for tourism and catering.

In 1988 he did his military service in the navy, on the Pula to Split route. He then moved to Serbia, lived briefly in Zrenjanin and settled in Novi Sad, where he stayed until 1999; in 2000 he moved to Belgrade, while also living at times in Vienna. He recorded his first record in 1992, with Dragan Stojković Bosanac, and his debut album was Vreme briše sve.

Three years later Baja began working with Novica Urošević, and the partnership produced the hit album Usijanje (1996). That year he won the audience award at the Moravski biseri festival with "Suze na venčanju", and he returned to the festival in 2003 with "Dragana". Further albums followed: Eh Neno Neno (1994), Ljubavnik (1997), Čežnja strast i mržnja (1998), Svetski čovek (1999), Došlo vreme (2002), Koktel ljubavi (2004), Zapisano u vremenu (2007), Album dragih uspomena (2010) and Snovi od stakla (2014), whose title song features the musician Oliver Katić. In 1997 he sang the duet "Svadba će da bude" with Anica Milenković.

In the 1990s Baja became very popular with songs such as "Oficir s ružom", "Ginem ginem" and "Koktel ljubavi", and about a decade later he turned to emotional ballads. Other songs on this page's playlist include "Pokaži svoje zmijsko telo", "Zemlja ljubavi", "Mini suknja" and "Non Stop". He keeps his private life away from the public and in recent years has rarely performed.
