About Dalibor Brun

Dalibor Brun was a Croatian pop singer whose songs blended modern pop with chanson. He was born on 19 September 1944 in Sisak, according to Croatian Wikipedia and the Rijeka daily Novi list, and became above all a singer of Rijeka: Novi list called him a favourite of the Rijeka audience and a musical icon of his city.

He started out singing with the Rijeka group Uragani. In 1968 he joined Korni Grupa, replacing Dušan Prelević, and sang in the band's first years, including at the 1969 Opatija festival with "Devojčice mala". Also in 1968 he appeared at Melodije Istre i Kvarnera with "Okrutno more", with music by Dario Ottaviani and his own lyrics, and won the second audience prize.

From 1969 Dalibor Brun sang solo. That year his "Prolaze godine" won the first audience prize at the Omladina festival in Subotica, and a long run of singles followed through the 1970s, among them "Djeca ljubavi", "Marie", "Miruj, miruj, srce", "Otkad si tuđa žena", "Željena" and "Nosio sam cvijeće pod prozore". He sang songs by composers such as Đorđe Novković, Stipica Kalogjera, Hrvoje Hegedušić and Mustafa Ismailovski, and often those of Maja Perfiljeva and Drago Britvić.

He was a festival regular: in Split with "Lipa luna" (1975), "Ja te ljubim" (1976) and "Uspavanka" (1983), in Zagreb with "Miruj, miruj, srce" (1972), "Otkad si tuđa žena" (1973) and "I poveo sam je u travu" (1975), and in Opatija with "Ruže" (1975) and "Ne pitaj me zašto" (1976). He also sang at Beogradsko proleće in 1970 and 1976, and at Vaš šlager sezone with "Ja ostajem s tobom" in 1978.

In 1991 he was part of the Croatian Band Aid and one of the voices of the patriotic song "Moja domovina". His later albums were Pozdravimo se (1993), the compilation Sve najbolje od Dalibora Bruna (1995), Ranjena duša (1996), Zašto me zoveš (1998), Živim, kako znam, kako mogu (2000) and Nema spavanja, and in the 2010s he worked with Dražen Zečić, Siniša Vuco and Željko Pavičić. Dalibor Brun died on 23 January 2026, at the age of 81.
