About Siniša Vuco
Siniša Vuco is a Croatian singer, songwriter and guitarist, born on 29 April 1971 in Split, whose music has ranged from pop and rock to heavy metal and new folk. His father, Luka Vuco "Luis", was also a musician, and his brother Hrvoje plays in the Split metal band Psihijatrija. As a young man he looked up to Bijelo Dugme, Valentino, Dino Merlin and Vatreni poljubac.
He started out in rock and metal. He played guitar in Evil Blood with Dennis "Harris" Gabrić and Ivan Svalina, sang and played in the Split heavy metal band Vatrene ulice and the thrash band Witchcraft, and recorded demos as Magistrala bend. He also founded the hard rock groups Živo blato, whose album Konac konca came out in 2000, and Klanje ljudi. In 1987, at sixteen, he won the local Glas Kaštela competition.
His breakthrough came at the 1992 Melodije hrvatskog Jadrana festival in Split, where he sang "Molim te vrati se" with Ivanka Luetić, his first big hit, as well as the award-winning "Siromasi" and "Ostani". His first album, A gdje si ti, followed in 1993, then Vuco II (1995), Vuco III (1996) and Vuco IV (1997). Volim piti i ljubiti (1998) was a sharp change of style towards new folk music and made him very popular.
In 2000 Siniša Vuco received the Zlatna ptica award for selling more than 100,000 albums, and he has four gold and three silver albums. Later albums include Vuco 2001, Vrati se, vrati (2002), Jesam! and Volim narodno (both 2004), Ne mogu ti to oprostiti (2007) and Vuco XI (2011). In April 2008 he announced that he was leaving Croatian pop music and resigned from the Croatian Music Union, saying he would keep playing live but would stop releasing records in Croatia.
He has also written songs for other singers, among them Mišo Kovač, Kemal Monteno, Zlatni dukati, Alka Vuica and Vlado Kalember, as well as "Stari se", sung by Marko Perković Thompson and Tiho Orlić. He stood in the 2001 local elections and the 2003 and 2011 parliamentary elections at the head of independent lists, without winning a seat.
