About Klapa Lučica
Klapa Lučica is a Dalmatian klapa, a group of a cappella singers, from Split. It was founded in 1966 near a sailing club in the city and is led by Duško Tambača.
Its first appearance at the Festival of Dalmatian Klapas in Omiš came in 1968, when it won the jury's first prize with "Pismo moja, hrli tamo". It repeated that success in 1972 with "Jednog sam momka ja 'jubila". In 1978 the klapa made its debut at the Split Festival of popular music, where it went on to sing eighteen times and received a special recognition from the festival.
From the start Lučica has kept to the so-called serenade style of singing, soft, subtle and lyrical in its interpretation. Klapa Lučica and Tambača are counted among those whose work brought klapa singing onto UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage.
Over the years the klapa has also recorded with soloists of Dalmatian pop: "Kaleto moja draga" (1979) and "More me zove" (1980) with Ivo Pattiera, "Kaleta" with Toma Bebić, and "Konobo moja" with Meri Cetinić and Tedi Spalato. Its repertoire is the traditional Dalmatian song, from serenades such as "Dobra večer, uzorita" to "Sudamja", "Kućo previsoka" and "Zaspao je lipi Ive".
The klapa is still active. In 2015 it began celebrating fifty years with the albums 50 godina s vama and Spli'ski teštamenat 2. Its awards include the City of Split group award for promoting the Dalmatian musical expression (2008), a charter of Split-Dalmatia County (2009), the special Status award of the Croatian Musicians Union (2015), the Order of the Croatian Trefoil (2016) and, in 2017, a Porin for lifetime achievement, the first ever given to a klapa.
