Lana Jurčević

Lana Jurčević is a Croatian pop singer, born on 7 November 1984 in Zagreb. Her father Damir's family comes from Imotski and her mother Esma's from Bosnia and Herzegovina. She has sung since childhood, studied journalism at the University of Zagreb and began her professional career in 2003, when Croatia Records released her debut album, Lana, with ten songs written by Milana Vlaović. That year she also sang the duet "Rođena da budem prva" with Severina.

Singles such as "Zašto me nećeš" and "Prava istina" made her name. She sang "Prava istina" at Dora 2004 and finished sixth, and returned to Dora in 2006 with "Najbolja glumica". Her second album, 1 razlog (2006), came out on Hit Records, and the same year her duet with Luka Nižetić, "Prava ljubav", went to number one in Croatia and won first place at the Croatian Radio Festival. In 2007 she finished second in Ples sa zvijezdama, the Croatian Dancing with the Stars, behind Nižetić.

The album Volim biti zaljubljena followed in 2008; its title song reached number two and was the centrepiece of a breast and cervical cancer awareness campaign. After the compilation Kopija (2010) she moved to Menart for Pobjede i porazi (2012), her first album of her own songs, with the hit "Nitko i ništa". In 2013 she worked with the hip-hop group Connect on "Noć bez granica", in 2015 she had a summer hit with "Ludo ljeto" and recorded a second duet with Nižetić, "Od najgorih najbolji", and in 2016 she took part in Tvoje lice zvuči poznato.

Her album Tabu (2017, Croatia Records) reached number three, and around it she released duets with Ante Cash ("Vrti mi se"), Mejaši ("Duplo slađe") and Luka Basi ("Upalimo ljubav"). In 2020 she signed with Warner Music for the foreign market and began performing as La Lana, starting with "So Messed Up". Away from music, Lana Jurčević opened the dance studio LA Studio in Zagreb in 2010 and launched the natural cosmetics brand La Piel in 2018. Her first daughter, Mayla Lily, was born in December 2023.
