Luka Nižetić

Luka Nižetić is a Croatian pop-rock singer and songwriter, born Luka Kužer Nižetić on 12 August 1983 in Split. He grew up in the Split neighbourhood of Mertojak, the second child of Tamara and Milo; his older sister Petra is a television presenter. As a child he learned piano from a nun, Sister Cecilia, and from about fifth grade took singing lessons with Miša Limić, where he picked up the basics of composition. He later trained his voice with the opera singer Sanja Erceg-Vrekalo. He lives in Zagreb.

He wrote his first song, "Ludi grade", at seventeen. Zdenko Runjić entered it at the Melodije hrvatskog Jadrana festival in 2001, where it won three Silver Seagulls, the expert jury's second prize for music, lyrics and performance. In 2004 he signed with Menart, and his debut album Premijera (2005) brought "Ne krivi me", "Tebi pjevam", "Ponekad poželim" and "Meni trebaš ti". His own song "Proljeće", sung at Dora 2005, made his name, and he was nominated for the Porin as debut of the year.

In 2006 he sang "Prava ljubav" with Lana Jurčević at the Hrvatski radijski festival, and it became a big hit. That summer "More" won the Golden Sail, the audience's first prize, on the first final evening of the Split festival. A year later he won the radio festival's pop-rock category with klapa Nostalgija and "Samo mi reci da (Ljepotice mala)", and late in 2007 he and Mirjana Žutić won the second season of Ples sa zvijezdama.

His albums Slobodno dišem (2007), Na tren i zauvijek (2008), Kad zasvira... (2012), Ljubav je mukte (2018) and Ludilo brale (2022) followed. The title song "Ludilo brale" (2019) features the actor Rene Bitorajac and Miroslav Škoro. At Dora 2019 Luka Nižetić finished third with "Brutalero", sung in Croatian, Spanish and Italian, and at Dora 2025 fifth by audience vote with "Južina". He has also voiced cartoon characters, among them Juraj in Juraj i hrabri vitezovi (2013).
