About Denis & Denis
Denis & Denis is a Croatian synth-pop duo from Rijeka, formed in the summer of 1982 by keyboard player and singer Davor Tolja and singer Marina Perazić. Tolja had led Toljina funk-selekcija after the band Vrijeme i zemlja split up, and Perazić had sung in the choir Jeka primorja and been part of the multimedia group Sigma Tau while studying civil engineering. Their first show was on 30 December 1982 at Rijeka's Dvorana mladosti, as the opening act for Boa.
While Tolja did his army service, Edi Kraljić stood in for him, and for a time the group was a trio. The debut album Čuvaj se! (1984, Jugoton), produced by Tolja and Andrej Baša, went gold on the strength of "Program tvog kompjutera", and Rock magazine voted it album of the year. The mini-album Ja sam lažljiva (1985) also went gold, with the title song, "Soba 23" and "Voli me još ovu noć". At MESAM in 1985 Perazić won best female vocalist with "Oaze snova", Rock readers named her female vocalist of the year and the "Ja sam lažljiva" video the video of the year, and the duo played the YU Rock Misija concert at the Red Star stadium in Belgrade. At Jugovizija 1986 in Priština they came third with "Braća Grimm i Andersen".
Marina Perazić left in September 1986 for a solo career. Tolja and Kraljić carried on with a more rock sound on Budi tu (1988), with "Bengalski tigar", "Miris krila anđela" and "Bio sam dijete", and stopped after the album's promotional concerts. Tolja then made a solo album, Stari mačak, and worked as a producer and songwriter; his song "Probudi me" for E.N.I. won Dora in 1997 and finished seventeenth at Eurovision.
For the thirtieth anniversary in 2012 Tolja brought the band back with Perazić, Kraljić and a new singer, Ruby Montanari Knez; the first show was in Zagreb on 7 December 2012, and the album Restart, made by Tolja and Montanari Knez, followed in 2013. In January 2026 the band announced a farewell tour, "Posljednji program tvog kompjutera", which ran from 14 March in Ljubljana to a last concert at Lauba in Zagreb on 10 April 2026.
In 2006 "Program tvog kompjutera" was ranked 77th on the B92 list of the 100 best Yugoslav songs, and in 2015 Čuvaj se! was ranked 65th among the 100 greatest Yugoslav albums by Rolling Stone Croatia.
