Putokazi

Putokazi (Signposts) was a vocal group from Rijeka, founded and led by the conductor Miranda Đaković. It was active for exactly 38 years, from 22 February 1984 to 22 February 2022, and Novi list called it a Rijeka music institution. Over that time about 400 singers passed through ten generations of the group, which began as a mixed choir and became a female vocal group in 2003.

Under the name Put, the group won the first Dora in 1993 with "Don't Ever Cry" and represented Croatia at that year's Eurovision Song Contest, finishing 15th. In 1997 its singers were part of E.N.I. at Eurovision, which made Putokazi the only Croatian act to take part twice.

The group released 14 albums, from Putokazi (1987) and With Respect for The Beatles (1991) to Good Morning Musicals (1992), the folk-inspired Zemlja (1997) and Nova Zemlja (2000), Hrvatske uspavanke (2001), the electronic Androida (2004) and its remix album, Treća Zemlja (2008), Mjesec (2009), Porculan (2014) and Meandri (2020). On Androida they recorded "Play, Rew, F Fwd" with Milan Fras of Laibach, and the animated video for "Output" was made with Japanese artists. Over the years they worked with musicians such as Elvis Stanić, Duško Rapotec, Robert Pilepić and Iztok Turk, and won 18 first festival prizes.

Putokazi performed in Berlin, Japan, Bulgaria and China, staged the musical Raskružje in 2016 and released the DVDs Stroj 22.2.22 and 33. The film omnibus Meandri won first prize at the International Music Film Festival in Parma. The group's last concert was on 2 July 2021 at the ancient site of Mirine, and it ended on its 38th birthday in 2022, at its peak.
