About Brigita Šuler

Brigita Šuler is a Slovenian pop singer and music teacher, born on 30 October 1976 in Brežice. She grew up and lives in Župelevec, a village near the Croatian border about 11 kilometres from Brežice, and she graduated from the pedagogy department of the Academy of Music in Ljubljana.

She introduced herself to the wider Slovenian public in 2003. That year her song "Nekje na dnu srca" won the jury award for best song overall at the Orion festival, and she also sang "Premalo ali preveč" at the Hit festival. In 2004 she won FeNS – Nova scena with "Pesem v meni", written with Zvone Hranjec, and reached the semi-final of Melodije morja in sonca with "Lep je ta dan". A year later she returned there with "Angelina", sung with Yuhubando.

Her debut album, Do zore, came out in 2006 and included a duet with Werner, and their "Hej, mala, opala" became one of her best-known songs. Three times she tried for Eurovision at EMA, Slovenia's national selection: "Samara" finished third in 2008, "Druga liga" 13th in 2009 and "Para me" eighth in 2010. Her second album, Ne dam srca, came out on Zlati zvoki in 2010 and gathered ten songs, among them "Samara", "Ne dam srca", "Ona", "Ljubijo", "Para me" and "Žigolo", written by Boštjan Groznik and recorded in Croatia. Pelji me na ples followed in 2013. Other favourites include "Stare balade", "Kamrca", "Lepa rožica" and "Sladka napaka".

Brigita Šuler was most visible on television, at festivals and in concert between 2006 and 2013. Since then she has stepped back from the stage: she began teaching piano at a music school and became its head. With her husband, the musician Maks Žbogar, whom she married at Mokrice Castle in 2012, she founded and runs the International Children's Singing Festival Brežice, which held its ninth edition in August 2025. She still performs now and then.
