About Natalija Verboten
Natalija Verboten is a Slovenian pop singer and TV presenter, born on 12 December 1976 in Slovenj Gradec to Jožica and Milan Verboten. She spent her early years in Srednji Dolič near Mislinja and then moved to Velenje, where she lived until she was 29.
She started out in narodnozabavna music, singing with Kvintet Rokondo and with Dan in noč, a band led by her father, and from 1995 to 1998 she was the singer of the Carinthian band Rosa. Her solo pop career began in 1996 with the album Ko zaprem oči, and in 1997 she sang "Nekdo" at EMA, the Slovenian Eurovision selection, finishing twelfth. In 1998 "Ne budi me" won the audience vote at Vesela jesen, where disabled people's groups from the Maribor area also named her the most heartfelt performer. "Rdeč ferari" and "Kot sveča v vetru" came the same year, and the albums Naj angeli te čuvajo (1998) and Sonce iz srca (2000) went gold and platinum.
After Od jutra do noči (2001) she won first place by audience vote at Slovenska popevka in 2003 with "Na pol poti", the title song of that year's album, which also had "Zate na Triglav". She returned to EMA with "Cry on My Shoulder" in 2004 and "SOS" in 2006, which came sixth. Dva policaja in druge uspešnice (2005) brought "Dva policaja" and "Hočeš nočeš", a duet with Šank Rock, and Ko te zagrabi... (2008) took its name from her hit "Ko te zagrabi".
In 2009 she released "Ma kje si ti" and "Strup" and sang "Spomni se" with Modrijani. Later songs include "Zapoj, Slovenija" and "Našla sva pot" with Štajerski 7 (2011), "Tvoja mama" with Domen Kumer (2012), "Del mojega srca" (2018) and "Čaša vina" with Best (2019).
Natalija Verboten began working with Televizija Slovenija in 1998 and has hosted "Po domače", "Vsakdanjik in praznik" and "Pri Jožovcu z Natalijo". In 2016 she won a copyright case against RTV Slovenija: the higher court in Ljubljana confirmed that the concept of the show "Slovenski pozdrav", which she and her husband had submitted as "Hit parada", was their work. In 2018 she was a judge in the first season of "Nova zvezda Slovenije" on Planet TV. She married Dejan Bojič in 2008, and they have two sons, Max and Oskar.
