About Mjesni Odbor

Mjesni Odbor is a Croatian band from the island of Šolta, formed in 2012, who play a mix of rock, ska, reggae, funk and disco and sing all their songs in the Čakavian dialect of Šolta. They are counted as part of the so-called island wave of Croatian pop music.

Siniša Garbin sings and plays bass, Stipe Jakovčević plays keyboards and harmonica, Andrej Burica electric guitar and Mijo Vrvilo drums, with a brass section of Jure Grgantov and Hrvoje Biliškov on trumpets, Bojan Delač on saxophone and Vedran Vanjak on trombone. Their debut single, "Mande Mande" (2012), climbed high on the Croatian charts and its video passed a million views on YouTube. The debut album, Disco Cuba, was recorded in February 2012 with producer Steve Vučković and pressed in a small run. Divje Sime followed, recorded in March 2013 with Vučković, with three videos directed by Vojan Koceić, and that year brought the single "Konfuzija (ispod karatila)".

In 2013 Mjesni Odbor were nominated for the Porin as debut of the year, and in 2015 for best club music album. They opened for Hladno pivo at the Split launch of the album Svijet glamura, played the HRT music show Garaža in May 2013 and toured all of Croatia after the two albums, including shows in the Velika Rock Eksplozija series.

Later singles were "Nekako drugačiji" (2016), "Rose" (2018), produced by Tomislav Mrduljaš, which won the second audience prize at the Split Festival in 2018, "Kad te ugledan" (2019), also presented at the Split Festival, and "Ja se živciran" (2020). In 2019 they sang "Živit će Dalmacija" with Hari Rončević at STFest. The band has said it is working on a third album.
