About Lira Vega
Lira Vega are a Serbian alternative rock band from Belgrade, formed in 1998 by the singer Zoja Borovčanin, the guitarist Vladimir Đorđević, the bassist Nemanja Aćimović and the drummer Dejan Utvar. They started as part of the theatre troupe Pozorište Šešira (The Hat Theatre), writing the music for its play Zima ili snovi ili putovanje u svim pravcima, and first performed under the troupe's name.
Their song "Alfa Akvari", which promoted the play, spent several weeks at the top of Radio B92's domestic singles chart. They played Belgrade clubs, opened for Obojeni Program in March 1999 and toured Slovenia with the troupe that December, after which they stopped. In 2002 they reformed as Lira Vega, named after a character Borovčanin played for Pozorište Šešira, and appeared at the REFRACT festival with Jarboli, Obojeni Program and Let 3; "Kometa" topped the SKC radio chart.
Their self-titled debut came out on PGP RTS in April 2004, with lyrics sung by Borovčanin in an invented language. She also sang on albums by Neočekivana Sila Koja Se Iznenada Pojavljuje i Rešava Stvar and Let 3, and with Let 3 won a Davorin award for "Zurle treštat". In 2006 the band opened for Nouvelle Vague in Belgrade; in 2008 Utvar left and Aćimović moved to drums. Sreća i ljubav (2009) took a more punk rock direction.
By the third album, Duhovi (2015), produced by Đorđević and Boris Mladenović, the band was the duo of Borovčanin and Đorđević. It was announced by "Novo Meksiko", with Dejan Vučetić of Darkwood Dub, and "Ja te znam". A 2016 concert in Novi Sad with guests from Stuttgart Online, Bitipatibi, Darkwood Dub and Disciplina Kičme was filmed as Duhovi prošlosti, and videos for "Vudu" and "Nema nade" followed.
Their fourth album, Posledice rada I, with a more synth-based sound, came out in November 2022, announced by "Velika žena". Newer videos include "Hodam", "Novi svet" and "Da vladam". Their official videos are gathered here in one playlist.
