About Presing
Presing is an alternative rock band from Belgrade, formed at the end of 1990 by singer and poet Zoran Radović "Kiza" and guitarist Vladimir Marković "Kraka", the only two constant members. The name comes from the pressing defence of basketball. Together with Darkwood Dub and Kanda, Kodža i Nebojša they made up the "NeoBeo" sound of early 1990s Belgrade. They began as a punk-funk band and have since moved through funk rock, psychedelia, post-rock and nu jazz to electro-dub and trip hop.
Their first recordings, "Mačo" and "Oboye", appeared on the 1991 compilation Želim jahati do ekstaze. The debut album Priča o totemu, duhu koji hoda, psu i razočaranoj ženi came out in 1992 on cassette only and came second in Ritam magazine's list of the year's albums. In 1993 the band split for the first time. "Mamutska brda" appeared on a B92 compilation in 1994, the same year as the split album 3 with Kazna za uši and Overdose.
In 1996 Radović and Marković brought Presing back. The album 600 nebo, released on 12 June 2002, topped several best-album lists of the year in Yugoslavia, and its song "Ritam u kojem stojiš" reached number one on several Serbian video charts. Zanos bez snova followed in 2006, and the band said goodbye with a concert at the Belgrade Youth Center on 30 March 2007. Radović then made the solo album Arax and the electronic duo Tron, and Marković formed Xanax with Sana Garić.
Presing returned in December 2011 with drummer Ernest Džananović and bassist Dušan Zdravković. The compilation Skrivena planeta came in 2013 and the album Neurokrem in 2014. The single "Labudov sneg" with Zardoz, with a video directed by Marković, was released in June 2018 and opened the fifth album, Povratak u krntiju (2021). The playlist gathers the band's own channel, from "Ritam u kojem stojiš" to "Tamna tema".
