About Disciplina Kičme
Disciplina Kičme was a rock band from Belgrade, Serbia, formed in 1981 by bassist and singer Dušan Kojić "Koja" after the end of Šarlo Akrobata. Kojić had also written for the magazine Džuboks under the pseudonyms Novica Talasić and Zeleni Zub. The first line-up was Kojić, Srđan Marković and drummer Nenad Krasavac; Marković soon left, and when Krasavac was drafted in 1982 Srđan Todorović took over the drums. The band was built around Kojić's bass lines, drawing on punk, funk, blues and jazz fusion.
The debut album "Sviđa mi se da ti ne bude prijatno", recorded in December 1982, came out on Helidon in early 1983 in a small print run that sold out and brought the band a cult following. The mini LP "Ja imam šarene oči" followed in 1985, the year Kojić also produced the debut of Partibrejkers. With "Svi za mnom!" (1986), which added a brass section and opened with a cover of YU Grupa's "Čudna šuma", they reached the wider media. The live "Najlepši hitovi! Uživo!" and the EP "Dečija pesma" came out on PGP-RTB in 1987, and "Zeleni Zub na Planeti Dosade" (1989) gave them "Tata i mama", "Iza 9 brda" and "Betmen, Mandrak, Fantom".
On "Nova iznenađenja za nova pokolenja" (1991), with former Haustor drummer Srđan Gulić, the song "Buka u modi" sampled a riff from Dah; it later became one of the unofficial anthems of the 1996-1997 protests in Belgrade. After the last concerts, in Koper and Pula in August 1991, the band stopped because of the political situation.
Kojić moved to London and in 1995 revived the band there as Disciplin A Kitschme, calling himself Black Tooth, and released "I Think I See Myself On CCTV" (1996), "Heavy Bass Blues" (1998) and "Refresh Your Senses, NOW!" (2001) in English. Back in Belgrade in 2004, he formed a new line-up with singer Manja Đorđević and drummer Miloš Velimir, played the main stage of EXIT on 10 July 2005 and released "Kada kažeš muzika, na šta tačno misliš, reci mi?" (2007), "Uf!" (2011) and "Opet" (2016). In July 2019 Kojić suffered a stroke in Britain, and the band has not been active since.
In 1998 YU 100 ranked "Zeleni Zub na Planeti Dosade" 32nd among the best Yugoslav albums. In the Rock Express Top 100 Yugoslav Rock Songs of All Times, published in 2000 from a poll of more than 3,400 readers, 120 journalists and critics and 100 musicians, "Buka u modi" was ranked 88th, and the B92 Top 100 lists "Dečija pesma" at 49th and "Nemoj" at 63rd.
