About Darko Martinović
Darko Martinović is a Montenegrin folk singer from Cetinje, where he was born on 3 September 1985. He is best known as the winner of the sixth season of the talent show Zvezde Granda in 2012.
He came to the competition with very little sight: many people think he is completely blind, but he has said that he sees about five percent. Speaking to Kurir after his victory, he said that it was no obstacle and that he got along perfectly normally with the help of friends and family. He was the first contestant from Montenegro to win the show, ahead of runner-up Aleksa Radenković, and he thanked the voters from Montenegro, Serbia and the diaspora who supported him.
His first single, "Srce mi je kraj Cetinja", came out in 2012. As the winner's prize Grand Production recorded his first album, Evo, evo, released in 2013, with songs such as "Njeno ime", "Glavu podignem" and "Otišla si jednog dana". He sang "Padaj kišo" at the Grand festival in 2014.
Later singles were "Koga lažem" (2015), "Za ljubav staru" (2017) and "Lujkama okružen" (2018). In 2021 he recorded "Prođoh skoro Crnom Gorom", a cover of the Zoran Kalezić song, and "Zakletva", which appeared on Džep sa tajnama 2, a compilation by the musician Momčilo Zeković Zeko.
After his win he withdrew almost entirely from public life and kept working as a singer away from the cameras. Recent reports say he plays now and then in local venues and still sometimes appears on Grand's programmes.
