About Boban Rajović
Boban Rajović is a Montenegrin pop-folk singer, popular across the former Yugoslavia. He was born on 25 December 1971 in Copenhagen, Denmark, to parents from Berane in Montenegro who had gone to work abroad, and he began singing at nineteen in cafés run by Yugoslavs in Scandinavia.
In 2000 he moved to Belgrade to record his first album, and he has lived there ever since. He has described those first years as hard but the sweetest of his career: he knew nobody, had no connections and paid for everything himself, and he and his brother had come from Denmark with some savings, while he kept going back to Copenhagen to drive a taxi for money. His debut album, "Boban", released by City Records, included "Njena vrata", "Barbika" and "Piroman", the song that gave him his nickname.
"Puklo srce" followed in 2003, and "Provokacija" came out in the summer of 2006 on Sound Production, with the title song, "Koga foliraš", the duet "Presuda" with Katarina Kaya Ostojić and "Ubi me ti", a cover of Amr Diab's "Osad Eini". The turning point came with "Usne boje vina": Željko Samardžić advised him to go to the songwriter Marina Tucaković for a hit, and Rajović says that song changed his life. It became the title of his 2007 album.
He went on with "Kosači" (2008), the compilation "Najbolje do sada" (2009), "Mijenjam" (2010), "Vojnik zabluda" (2013), "Dito" (2018) and "Avion" (2024), as well as the singles "Padobran" (2016), "Spartanac" (2018), "Kilometri ljubavi" (2023), sung with Ivan Zak, and "Suze" (2024). In 2009 he recorded "Persijska princeza" with Filip Filipi.
Boban Rajović is married to Dragana, whom he first met in Denmark, where their parents had known each other for decades, and they have three children. Besides "Usne boje vina" and "Provokacija", his best-known songs include "Piroman", "Lijepa žena" and "Spartanac".
