Coby

Coby (Slobodan Veljković) is a Serbian rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer, born on 11 April 1985 in Belgrade and raised in Prokuplje. He is known for blending hip hop with Serbian folk music, and nearly every song he makes carries his producer tag, "Coby, jesi ti radio traku?" ("Coby, did you make the track?").

He started producing beats in secondary school; he finished the music school in Niš and moved to Belgrade in 2007, when Rexxxona, the owner of Bassivity Digital, heard his beats and took him on. For several years he worked between Belgrade and New York, in the label's New York branch, producing for American rappers too: he wrote "Headache" for Rick Ross's album Hood Billionaire and produced "See Me Now" for French Montana. Back in Serbia from 2010 he formed a long partnership with Rasta, who wrote lyrics to his music, and the two made songs for Boban Rajović, Dara Bubamara and Ana Nikolić, including Ana Nikolić's album Labilna and Dara Bubamara's Biografija.

He became known to the wider public as a singer in 2015 with "Ideš za Kanadu", recorded with THCF for the TV Prva documentary series Dosije, followed the same year by "Nikom nije noćas kao meni". Collaborations came one after another: "Crni sin" with Relja Popović and Cvija, "Samo jako" and "Čista hemija" with Stoja, songs with the Croatian group Connect.

In 2018 he wrote and released "Mala plava" with Nataša Bekvalac, recorded "4 strane sveta" with Senidah for the film Južni vetar and "Ona'e" with Jala Brat and Buba Corelli. He went on to produce music for the Južni vetar series, including its opening song "Pazi se", and in 2019 performed his songs "Biseri iz blata" and "Rambo" with a symphony orchestra; Biseri iz blata is also the title of a documentary about him and Rasta. With Milica Pavlović he made "15ica" and the duet "Ilegala".

In January 2023 he became the first winner of the Master of Ceremony award at the Music Awards Ceremony. The playlist here is Bassivity's playlist of Coby's singles and videos, from "Ilegala" and "Stara igra" to "Sexy" with Senidah.
