About Andrea Demirović

Andrea Demirović, who often performs simply as Andrea, is a Montenegrin pop singer. She was born on 17 June 1985 in Titograd, today's Podgorica, and studied music pedagogy at the Music Academy in Cetinje. In 2009 she became the first woman to represent Montenegro at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Her breakthrough came at the Sunčane skale festival in Herceg Novi in 2002. In 2005 she entered the race to represent Serbia and Montenegro at Eurovision with "Šta će mi dani", a song for which she wrote the music, the words and the arrangement herself, and finished fifth in the national final. In 2008 she came second in the selection of Montenegro's Eurovision singer. Her debut album, Andrea, came out on City Records in 2006.

On 23 January 2009 the national broadcaster RTCG announced that a seven-member committee had unanimously chosen her for the contest in Moscow, following Stefan Filipović, who had sung for Montenegro the year before. Her song, "Just Get Out of My Life", was written by Ralph Siegel, Bernd Meinunger and José Juan Santana Rodríguez, and it was the first Montenegrin entry sung entirely in English. She promoted it at national finals and Eurovision parties in Greece, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, the Netherlands and Belgium. On 12 May 2009 she opened the first semi-final and finished eleventh of eighteen with 44 points, one place short of the final.

Around the contest she was preparing a second album, and its first single was "The Queen of the Night", a cover of the song Mirela had sung in Spain's Eurovision selection of 2007. In 2013 she sang "Odlazim" at the Baltic Song Contest, and in 2015 she took part in Odbrojavanje za Beč, Serbia's national final for Eurovision, without winning. That same year she announced Montenegro's votes at the contest in Vienna.

She kept trying to return to the Eurovision stage. At Montevizija 2019 she sang "Ja sam ti san", which she wrote with Michael James Down, Primož Poglajen, Adam Featherstone and Will Taylor, in a final that also included Nina Petković. She entered Montenegro's national final again for 2026, once more without winning. In 2021 she recorded the ballad "Proljeće" as a duet with Bojan Jovović.

Andrea has also shared live recordings of jazz and swing standards such as "Summertime" and "Big Spender" on her own YouTube channel. The playlist here gathers "Ja sam ti san", "I Believe" and "Just Get Out of My Life" in its Eurovision version and several dance mixes.
