About Nina Petković

Nina Petković is a Montenegrin singer, musician and songwriter. She was born on 10 April 1981 in Kotor and grew up in neighbouring Tivat, the town she calls the place she comes from and returns to. She became known across the region on Operacija trijumf, the Balkan version of the Star Academy talent show, where she finished fourth.

She started out singing in rock bands, Rain Dogz and then Dan poslije, and first showed herself to a Montenegrin audience on the TV contest Intro karaoke. Before Operacija trijumf she sang at festivals such as Evropesma and Montevizija, sometimes on her own and sometimes with Dan poslije.

Operacija trijumf began on 29 September 2008, and she was its only contestant from Montenegro. She reached the final and sang with many of the region's stars, among them Jelena Tomašević, Jelena Rozga, Magazin, Kemal Monteno, Danijela Martinović, Colonia and Milena Vučić, with whom she sang "Da l' ona zna". In the final she also sang "Nađi me" by Oktobar 1864.

After the show she recorded "Samo" with her fellow contestant Sonja Bakić, and on 8 June 2009 she won Pjesma Mediterana in Budva with "S druge strane sna", which also won Story magazine's readers' poll for the favourite of the festival. "Bezobrazno" followed in 2009, she returned to Budva in 2010 with "Ne odustajem", and in 2012 she sang "Talas i brod" at the festival in Ohrid. Her albums are Priče sa tavana (2012) and Koraci (2022), and she has had a hand in writing almost all of her songs.

She tried twice to represent Montenegro at Eurovision: in 2018 with "Dišem", which finished last at Montevizija although she later called it her best entry, and in 2019 with "Uzmi ili ostavi", which came fourth in a final that also included Andrea Demirović. Her later singles include "Dance till I die" (2020), "Budi moja muzika" (2021) and "Iluzija" (2025), which she has described as the start of a new album continuing Koraci. She has also sung at the Biser Jadrana festival in her home town of Tivat.
