About Sijenke
Sijenke is a Montenegrin synth-pop band, founded by Marko Todorović and Radovan Rašo Raičević and completed by Milan Popović and Boris Pažin. Their sound combines electronic elements with pop, with inspiration drawn from rock as well as pop music.
The two founders came from different corners of the scene. Radovan, from Podgorica, had been making rap music and working as a DJ, while Marko, from Kotor, was already writing ambient and indie music as The Common Shrew. They joined forces in 2020, the year in which the songs for their first album were written.
The band made its debut in 2021 with the singles "Gledam nebo" and "Ne mogu da zamišljam". Both drew real attention and led to the first album, Iz sijenke, released that year on the Zagreb label Više manje zauvijek. The title means "out of the shadow", and the band has said it stands for appearing out of nowhere, unexpectedly, which is how they imagined their own arrival on the music scene.
"Ne mogu da zamišljam" was used on the soundtrack of the film Rikverc, and its video was made with director Andrija Mugoša and the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Cetinje. At the Muzzik Video Awards 2021 it was nominated in the category for the video of a new artist.
The singles "Ko sam ja?" (2022) and "Suze od krokija" (2024) followed, and in 2025 Sijenke released a second album, Momak za ispomoć, again on Više manje zauvijek. Its single "Bumerang" came with a video made by Echo team and directed by Fedor Kozlov.
