About Prljavi Inspektor Blaža i Kljunovi
Prljavi Inspektor Blaža i Kljunovi are a comedy rock band from Belgrade, Serbia, formed in early 1994. The band is led by singer Igor Blažević, who had fronted the new wave band Fiskulturno Lane in the early 1980s and took the name Prljavi Inspektor Blaža in late 1991 as a host on Radio Pingvin. The first line-up also had guitarists Milutin "Gazda" Petrović and Aleksandar Karadžić and bassist Dejan Resanović.
At first they played mostly at Belgrade's Prostor and the Klub studenata tehnike, covering hits of Yugoslav rock, and their main hit was Blažević's own "Dule Savić", a tribute to the footballer Dušan Savić. A concert of 14 April 1994 came out as the self-released live cassette Igra rokenrol SR Jugoslavija, with songs by Azra, Zabranjeno Pušenje, Riblja Čorba, Prljavo kazalište, Bijelo Dugme and Plavi orkestar.
The first studio album, Plagijati i obrade (1996), was mostly covers, among them a song of Jadranka Stojaković's, with members of Orthodox Celts as guests; Petrović left after it. Seks, droga i Bodiroga (1998) took its title from a graffiti slogan that appeared after Yugoslavia won the 1998 FIBA World Championship, and brought "Lepa si Pamela", "Arigo Saki bluz" and "Dule Savić 3". In 1998 they also released "Alez Yugoslavia", their version of Édith Piaf's "Milord", later reworked as "Alez 2010" and "Allez Allez 2018" for Serbia's World Cup teams. Around then the members started the label Kljun Records.
Pare ne vraćamo (2002) had guests such as Dragi Jelić of YU grupa, and its "Častan policajac" has lyrics by Bora Đorđević. Live albums include Shipu ga Žobla! (2000), recorded at the Studentski kulturni centar, and Samo Supermen Srbiju spašava (2007), recorded in Pančevo, and the DVD LIVE@Belgrade Beer Fest 2010 raised money for the Beogradski bebi klub. In 2011 they turned Elvis Presley's "Viva Las Vegas" into "Živele žene".
The band celebrated its 20th anniversary with two concerts on 13 December 2014, at the Concert of the Year festival in Novi Sad and at Belgrade's Fest club. Founding guitarist Milutin Petrović died on 10 December 2016, a day before his 49th birthday. In the Rock Express Top 100 Yugoslav Rock Songs of All Times, published in 2000 from a poll of more than 3,400 readers, 120 journalists and critics and 100 musicians, "Dule Savić" was ranked 99th.
