Legende

Legende is a Serbian folk rock band founded in Belgrade in 1988, mixing rock with traditional music. Its leader is Zoran Dašić "Daša", the band's songwriter and composer, who plays guitar and tamburica, and its second founder is guitarist Lazar Marin, who once sang in the choir of the AKUD "Krsmanac" and now looks after the band's public relations. Dašić was briefly a member of Riblja Čorba, and Legende have worked with its leader, Bora Đorđević, from the start.

In their first year they released the album Dođi druže and won Belgrade Spring with "Skid'o sam joj zvezde s neba", a duet with Marko Nikolić. In 1989 Ivan Milinković became the lead singer; he had spent nine years at the Belgrade Opera and won opera prizes in Belgrade and Pyongyang. Ne veruj (1991), Uspomene (1994), Iz dnevnika (1995) and No. 6 (1997) followed, and the band went back to Belgrade Spring with "Nema starog Beograda" (1993) and "Jednom" (1996) and to Pjesma Mediterana in Budva with "Zašto ne volim proleće" (1997). Pero Krznanić joined on bass in 1992 and Želimir Vasić "Žak" on drums in 1998.

Legende are above all a concert band. Their first concert season opened on 19 January 1995 at Sava Centar in Belgrade, and every season since has traditionally opened there; by February 2019 they had played 59 concerts in that hall. Their 1,000th concert was on 5 February 2005, and they have played more than 1,400 in all, in Serbia and the rest of the region and as far away as Canada, the United States, Australia and Russia. In February 2008 they celebrated twenty years in the big hall of Sava Centar.

The albums kept coming: Beograd - Uživo (1998), Pisma iz 1999. (1999), Legende 10 and Nostalgija (2000), Sa osmehom (2002), Reka pravoslavlja and Mladosti (2004), Antologija 2 (2007), Sjaj od plamena (2010) and 2020 (2020), along with the compilations Sve najlepše (1996), Antologija (2001) and Trilogija (2012). Keyboard player and arranger Predrag Stojković joined in 2003.

Milinković left in 2019, and today Nikola Zekić sings, with Marko Dašić on keyboards. In 2023 Legende sang "Beže godine" at the Sabor narodne muzike Srbije, and in 2025 they were guests there and received the Zlatna ptica award. Zoran Dašić is a member of the Composers' Association of Serbia, has written two books and works as an editor in the music department of RTS.
