About Moby Dick
Moby Dick is a Serbian pop and dance band founded in 1992 by Srđan Čolić and named after Herman Melville's novel. It started out with six members and released its first album, Kreni!, soon after.
In 1994 Ana Stanić joined as the female voice, and as the other original members left, Moby Dick became a duo of Čolić and Stanić. Their second, self-titled album was a huge success, selling more than 200,000 copies. It carried the hits "Nema nas više", "Brate prijatelju", "Zar nije te stid" and "Bacila si čini", and the controversial "Kralj kokaina", which some television and radio stations refused to play. The band toured a lot in those years, ending with a sold-out concert at Sava Centar in Belgrade. They also sang "Pod kožu si mi ušla" at the Pjesma Mediterana festival in 1994 and "Zar nije te stid" at MESAM in 1995.
The third album, Nostalgija, followed in 1997 with "Nostalgija", "Ubio sam čoveka zbog tebe" and "Padrino". In 1998 Ana Stanić left to start her solo career and Aleksandra Perović took her place. With her the band made two more albums, IV and Hotelska soba (2001). Čolić then turned to work as a studio manager and producer, while Perović began a solo career. Compilations followed, and new singles appeared now and then, such as "Mala" in 2010 and "Miris brzine" in 2012.
