About Leontina Vukomanović

Leontina Vukomanović, known simply as Leontina, is a Serbian pop singer, composer, lyricist and conductor, born in Požarevac on 13 November 1970. She published her first songs in 1986 while at the Josip Slavenski music school and went on to study at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.

In 1991 and 1992 she took part in the Yugoslav Eurovision selection as a composer and lyricist, and as a singer of her own songs she won interpretation awards at MESAM and Beogradsko proleće in 1992. As a songwriter she first won the Budva festival in 1993 with "Porok", sung by Filip Žmaher, and the next year she took third place there herself with "Neću samo tebe da volim".

Her first album as a singer-songwriter, Nemiri, came out in 1996, the year she won Sunčane skale in Herceg Novi with "Jedna od sto". She won Budva in 1998 with "Daleko", released Ljubav bez ljubavi on City Records and a children's album on PGP RTS the same year, and took both first prizes at the Banja Luka festival in 1999 with "Vrata od bola". The third album, Sledeća (2001), brought "Sreda", "Dugo, dugo" and "Kad prave ljubavi ginu", and "Crno pa se ne vidi" was named the ballad of the year.

Leontina wrote "Čija si", with which Toše Proeski won Beovizija in 2003, and the lyrics of "Lane moje", with which Željko Joksimović came second at Eurovision 2004. She has also written for Bojan Marović, Maja Nikolić, Andrijana Božović and Koktel bend, and she won Vrnjačka Banja in 2009 with "Takve ne prave".

In 2006 she founded the children's choir Čarolija, which has more than three hundred members, and its children's music festival. She published a book of poetry in 2013, has sat on the jury of Pinkove zvezdice since 2014, and received the Gold Medal for Merit in 2024.
