About Goribor

Goribor is an alternative rock band from Bor. Singer Aleksandar Stojković "St" and guitarist Željko Ljubić "Pity" first played together as teenagers in Projekat, from 1988 to 1992, and in 1996 they formed Goribor with guitarist Predrag Marković "Peđa" and drummer Goran Ljubić. The name comes from the fiery glow over the town when slag is separated from copper at the RTB Bor smelter.

For years the band only made home demos. Presing guitarist Vladimir Marković passed them to Zdenko Franjić of the Croatian independent label Slušaj Najglasnije!, which released a string of demo albums from 2004. In 2006 Franjić sent them to the Pula Art & Music festival demo competition, where Goribor finished second, a point behind the winners, and were praised for a unique rock expression, often playing to a rhythm machine instead of a live rhythm section.

Their song "Čujem bluz" appeared on the PGP RTS compilation of the new Serbian scene in 2007, and the same year the band signed with the Croatian label Dancing Bear. The debut album Goribor, produced by Edi Cukerić, who had worked with The Bambi Molesters, Gustafi and Hladno pivo, came out in November 2007, the first album by a Serbian band on a Croatian major label since the wars. Popboks named it the best domestic album of 2007, Blic the rock album of the year, and in 2011 Popboks critics voted it the best Serbian album of the decade.

Goribor toured Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia, played Exit, and later performed in Sweden and Norway; Jarboli frontman Danijel Kovač and former Eyesburn member Dušan Petrović guested at their concerts. The double album Evo je banja followed in 2012, then the singles "Jureći ljubav" (2013) and "Dugo nisam bio tu" (2014), whose video features actor Filip Gajić. The lyrics of three of their songs are in Petar Janjatović's anthology of ex-YU rock poetry.
