About Golte

Ansambel Golte is a Slovenian narodnozabavna trio, playing the polkas and waltzes of Slovenian folk-pop, from the Upper Savinja Valley. The band is based in Mozirje, where the brothers Andrej and Gregor Rak come from; the third member, Toni Drobež, is from Gornji Grad. That is why it is on Muzika-Balkan under Slovenia.

It began in 2002, when the Rak brothers, still in their teens, met Toni Drobež at a gathering of folk musicians and started rehearsing and playing at parties and concerts. The band counts 1 January 2003 as its official start, and it has kept the same line-up ever since: Andrej Rak on accordion, drums and vocals, Gregor Rak on double bass, baritone horn, bass guitar, keyboards and vocals, and Toni Drobež on guitar and vocals. Their first mentors were Robi Zupan and Mitja Mastnak, and from 2006 the musician Igor Podpečan, who also became their producer.

Festivals made their name. At Vurberk they won the bronze dragon in 2006 with "Če je ljubezen greh", the silver dragon and first prize for performance in 2007 and the golden dragon in 2008, and at Števerjan in 2007 they were named the best trio. At Slovenska polka in valček, the most important festival of the genre, they reached the final in 2007 with "Kmetije ne prodamo", won the best polka in 2009 with "Če te luna nosi" and the best waltz in 2011 with "Nocoj prižgi mi luč", which also won the telephone vote and made them the overall winners.

They have released three albums: Če je ljubezen greh (2007), Če te luna nosi (2009) and Nocoj prižgi mi luč (2012), the last on the Zlati zvoki label for their tenth anniversary, when the municipality of Mozirje gave them its gold plaque. Their words come from lyricists such as Vera Šolinc, Fanika Požek and Janez Hvale, and the melodies from Andrej Rak and Igor Podpečan. Later songs include the polka "Dan z napako" and a trio version of "Snežna noč", the old song made famous by Oto Pestner, who arranged it anew for them.

The playlist comes from the band's own channel, with "Če je ljubezen greh", "Če te luna nosi", "Kot beli zajčki", "Kmetije ne prodamo" and a live "Nocoj prižgi mi luč".
