Ansambel Roka Žlindre

Ansambel Roka Žlindre is a Slovenian narodnozabavna (folk-pop) ensemble from Sodražica, founded in 2005 and led by the accordionist Rok Žlindra. It is a classic instrumental trio with two singers: Rok Žlindra on accordion, Boštjan Merhar on guitar and Rok Modic on bass, with the vocalists Barbara Ogrinc and Kristjan Oven. Earlier members included the guitarist Toni Tomas Lovšin and the singer Tadej Osvald.

The ensemble made its name at the festivals of Slovenian folk music. At Graška Gora it won the silver pastirček (shepherd figurine) in 2006 and again in 2007, and in 2007 it took the second audience prize and the third jury prize at the festival in Dolenjske Toplice. In 2008 it won the audience prize at Večer slovenskih viž v narečju, and at Graška Gora the audience prize, the award for the best trio and the golden pastirček.

In 2009 their song "Del srca" was named the best waltz and the best song overall at Slovenska polka in valček, and the audience at the Ptuj festival chose them as the best ensemble.

The biggest stage came in 2010. Together with the group Kalamari they won EMA 2010 and represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo with "Narodnozabavni rock", a mix of folk band and rock group. They performed in the second semi-final and finished second to last, so they did not reach the final.

Their albums are Najlepše je, kadar sva skupaj (2007), Srce pa še vedno hrepeni (2008), Del srca (2010), Rokove najlepše (2011) and Lupčka mi je dala, mala (2015). In 2011 the ensemble spent a month touring western Canada, playing for Slovenian expatriate clubs in Vancouver, Calgary and Kelowna.

In 2015 Ansambel Roka Žlindre celebrated ten years with a concert in Ribnica, filmed by Televizija Slovenija and broadcast in two parts the following year. That year they also released "Nasmehni se" with their role models, Ansambel Franca Miheliča. Their best-known songs include "Del srca", "Lupčka mi je dala, mala", "Mi ga pa žlindramo", "Moj Pepi" and "Narodnozabavni rock".
