About Extreme Smoke 57
Extreme Smoke 57 is the first grindcore band in Slovenia, formed early in 1990 in Nova Gorica. Its influences include Napalm Death, Sore Throat, Fear of God, Seven Minutes of Nausea and Agathocles, and its members have played in many other grindcore, crust, drone, noise and hardcore acts, among them Patareni, Cadlag, PureH, Mozak, Panic Overdose and Psihoza.
In its first years the band recorded a live tape in Koper in March 1991, the studio demo Open Your Eyes... and Die! for Wild Rags Records and a split 7-inch EP with The Sexorcist (1992), and it played in Leipzig in September 1991. Extreme Smoke 57 split up in 1992. A split tape with Agathocles followed in 1993, and the 7-inch EP Who Sold the Scene?! in 1996.
The band reformed in 2008. Since then it has released split 7-inch EPs with H-Incident (2012), Deca debilane (2013) and 2 minuta dreka (2014), the CD Life of No Dreams (2014), the DVD Who Sold the Scene?! Live (2014) and Live on Radio Student (2015), and it has played well-known European festivals such as Metaldays, Obscene Extreme, EXIT and Punk Rock Holiday. The self-released 10-inch LP Corruption Deteriorates came out in January 2016, and in July 2017 a split 7-inch EP with the Belgian grindcore veterans Agathocles. In March 2018 the New Zealand label Independent Woman released a compilation CD of studio recordings from 1991 to 2018, with a bonus disc of their last show before the 1992 split.
