About Ansambel Petra Finka

Ansambel Petra Finka is a Slovenian narodnozabavna, or folk-pop, band from Dolenjske Toplice, active since 1992. It is named after its founder, accordionist Peter Fink, who had recorded a cassette of instrumental accordion pieces in 1991 before putting a band together.

The band made its debut at the preselection for the Ptuj festival in 1992, where it won a golden Orfej badge and the award for best debutant. In 1995 it was named best debutant again, at the Števerjan festival. The early years brought line-up changes, including a new bass player and a new female singer.

At the Slovenska polka in valček competition the band reached the final in 1998 with "Soncu sem zaprla vrata", won the prize for the best waltz in 1999 with "Rada bi še plesala", and was a finalist again with "Ohcet bo" in 2001 and "Ribič" in 2007. Its biggest success came in 2003 with "Morska pravljica", whose melody was inspired by Dalmatian music and whose lyrics are partly in Croatian; the expert jury gave it the awards for best melody and for best lyrics, written by Fanika Požek.

Albums followed steadily: Novo življenje (1994), Ko ata naš slavi (1995), Rada bi še plesala (1999), Na Dolenjskem (2001), Morska pravljica (2005), Tri leta sem jo čakal (2008), Nocoj ... (2012) and the collection Najlepše melodije (2015). In 2008 the band's singer Urška Klobučar was voted best female narodnozabavna singer by listeners.

In 2021 singer Denis Zupan left after twelve years and Matej Mešl took his place. Peter Fink leads the band with Urška Klobučar, Simon Kovačič, Jaka Janc and Rok Hrovat. Besides "Morska pravljica", Ansambel Petra Finka is known for "Moj stari avto", "Nikdar me ne boš poljubil" and "Nocoj še zadnjič bom prišel".
