Ansambel Novi spomini

Ansambel Novi spomini is a Slovenian narodnozabavna band, the polka-and-waltz folk-pop of the Slovenian countryside, from Mokronog in Dolenjska. It was founded in 2006 and is based in Mokronog to this day, which is why it is on Muzika-Balkan among the artists of Slovenia. The line-up is Jože Mikec on vocals, Klemen Hribar on accordion, Denis Barbo on guitar and Rok Barbo on bass, all four also singing.

The band made its name at the Slovenian folk-music festivals. At the Ptuj festival it was named the best band among the other ensembles in 2007, and in 2008 it won the Koren plaque there, together with the audience awards of the hall and of the television viewers and radio listeners. It took second prize for performance at the Vurberk festival in 2008 and 2009, and in 2010, at Slovenska polka in valček, "Fičfirič" was named the best polka and the band the best trio.

Four albums followed: Pet minut (2008), Tisti dan (2010), Fičfirič (2011) and Nisem mačo (2015). Their best-known songs include "Pet minut", "Tisti dan", "Fičfirič", "Na veselici", "Briga me", "Osvajalec" and "Če mene boš izbrala". Since 2009 the band has held its own yearly Valentine's Day concert, Valentinovo z Novimi spomini, in the Marof sports hall in Novo mesto.

Novi spomini like to work with others. In 2009 they recorded "Nekaj vsem nam je enako" with Modrijani for that band's album Modrijani z gosti. "Natočim cvička", recorded in 2013 with the comic character Mama Manka, won the first prize of the expert jury and the title of overall winner at the second Cviček festival. In 2014 they joined the rock band Rock Partyzani for "Nocoj pri meni druga spi", and in 2016 they recorded "Vsaka punca rada ima" with Ansambel Nemir, whose member Matej Barbo is the brother of Denis and Rok. In 2015 their singer Jože Mikec hosted the Vurberk festival. Newer videos include "Hej, punca", "Al' mene buli" and "Zelena je moja dolina" with Ivan Hudnik.
