About Klemen Klemen

Klemen Klemen is a Slovenian rapper, born in 1975 in Ljubljana. Unlike most rappers he performs under his real name. He is closely tied to the Ljubljana district of Trnovo, which gave the title to his first album, and RTV Slovenija has called him the legend of Trnovo. He started rapping at 13, at first in English.

Before going solo he was in the group Pasji kartel, which Jure Košir invited him to join and which signed with the Nika label. He also rapped the first verse of "V mestu nekaj dogaja" on Ali En's 1994 album Leva scena, a song that also features Anika Horvat.

Signed by Nika Records, Klemen Klemen released his debut, Trnow stajl, in 2000. RTV Slovenija describes it as a cult album and the record that made him widely known; its best-known tracks are "Keš pičke" and "Trnow I / The Neralić Story". In 2003 came the second album, Hipnoza, with the hit "Šnopc". His DJ was Simon Stojko Falk, and he worked with well-known musicians such as Vlado Kreslin, on the CD Generacija.

After Hipnoza he stayed away from the scene for a long time. He came back with a big concert at Kino Šiška in 2011 and an appearance on the radio show Izštekani, and in 2014 he played a concert with the RTV Slovenija Big Band. His third studio album, S3P, came out in September 2015, twelve years after Hipnoza, and was presented at Kino Šiška on 4 September. It is a double album: the first disc was recorded over several years with producer bMD, with guests such as Domna Graceja and Dubzilla, and the second gathers songs made for other occasions and live recordings from Izštekani and the Big Band concert. The same day a collector's edition of Trnow stajl came out, on two CDs with a DVD.

In 2017 he toured castles in Brežice, Slovenj Gradec, Kamnik, Ljubljana, Brestanica and Ormož with Zlatko and Dalaj Eegol, the later name of Ali En, as the Three Kings of Slovenian rap. Dalaj Eegol called him a bridge between his own generation and younger rappers. A collector of funk records, he names Ol' Dirty Bastard among his inspirations. His other songs include "Baraba", "Vrn dnar", "Leta 1600" and "FBS (Fafing Bradr System)".
