Anika Horvat

Ana Anika Horvat is a Slovenian pop singer, born on 24 May 1977 in Koper. She is one of the most familiar faces of the Slovenian song festivals, and an optician by training.

She started very young: her first record, Pomlad in še kaj, came out on Helidon in 1989, and she first sang at Melodije morja in sonca in Portorož in 1993 with "Moj prvi fant". In 1995 "Plima" won the audience's second prize, and in 1996 came her breakthrough, "Lahko noč, Piran", which won the audience vote and the jury's award for the best lyrics. Most of her early festival songs were written by Marino Legovič with lyrics by Drago Mislej.

At Slovenska popevka she collected a row of jury awards: for "Nihče ne ve" in 2005 (best lyrics and best arrangement, second place), for "Belo nebo" in 2006 (best song and best arrangement) and for "Samo ti" in 2009 (best song and best performance). She also sang at EMA, the Slovenian Eurovision selection, in 2002 and 2005, and at the Festival of Slovenian Chanson in 2010 and 2011. Back at Melodije morja in sonca she came second with "Ruleta" in 2017, and in 2022 she won the grand prize with "Do roba in še čez", sung together with Tinkara Kovač.

Her albums include Lahko noč, Piran (1996), Ura brez kazalcev (1998), Čutim, da živim (2002), Nihče ne ve with the RTV Slovenia Big Band (2007), Od Pike do Acota (2013), Ljubezen je kot mavrica with the Big Band and the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra (2014) and Ko se prebuja dan (2019).

Among her hits are "Predala se ne bom", "Tega se ne sme", "Nisem cvet" by Jan Plestenjak, "Nisva dober par" by Rok Lunaček and "Med dvema ognjema". She has sung duets with Klemen Klemen ("Kdo si ti"), Zlatan Čordić Zlatko ("Moja pesem") and Slavko Ivančić ("Lepo je deliti"), and in recent years Anika Horvat has released new official videos such as "Zvezda", "Ptice v nas" and "Sanje brez mej".
