The Frajle

The Frajle are a female acoustic pop band from Novi Sad, founded in the summer of 2009. They chose the name, an old Vojvodina word for young ladies, to stress their Vojvodina roots, and they dress in a deliberately old-fashioned style on stage. Critics have called their music "Vojvodina tango" and "the women's bećarac". The sisters Jelena and Nevena Buča, both born in Kljajićevo, write much of the material.

Their first single, "Ich liebe Dich", came with a video made as a short film about love with cabaret touches, and "Štiklice" followed in July 2011. Their debut album, Naš prvi album sa putovanja (2012), came out on PGP RTS in Serbia, Aquarius Records in Croatia and Hayat in Bosnia. Its song "Fina" reached number one on the MTV chart, and so did a remix of "Pare vole me" by DJ Gramophonedzie; the two videos won MTV awards in 2014.

The EP Strana A ljubavi (2014) brought "Kad se ljubimo" and "Za kraj", with producers such as Voja Aralica, Magnifico and Ante Gelo. On Strana B ljubavi (2015) they recorded "Sarajevo", the summer hit "Menjam dane" and a cover of Toše Proeski's "Vo kosi da ti spijam". Ljubav na dar (2017) included covers of Magazin's "Dva zrna grožđa" and Videosex's "Zemlja pleše", and the 2019 covers album Obraduj me featured duets with Željko Bebek and Jasna Zlokić.

In June 2021 they released "Panonskom mornaru", dedicated to their musical role model Đorđe Balašević. Their 2024 studio album Dnevnik duše, on Croatia Records and Jugoton, brought "Tamburaši", "Moje duše duša" and "Gorim", and the song "Prijatelj", sung with Sanja Doležal, Sergej Ćetković, Adi Šoše, Lozano and Luka Basi.

They regularly sing at festivals across the region, from Runjićeve večeri in Split, where they won a Golden Seagull in 2013, to the CMC festival in Vodice, and they have played in the United States, Canada and across Europe. Their music videos are gathered here in one playlist.
