Svemirko

Svemirko is a Croatian indie pop band from Zagreb, built around the musician and producer Marko Vuković. They are on Muzika-Balkan as a Croatian band: Vuković was born in Đakovo in Slavonia, and the band was founded in Zagreb, where Croatian Wikipedia says it is still based. The name comes from a contestant of that name on the quiz show Najslabija karika.

Before Svemirko, Vuković released music under the names Kimekai and Nikonar. As Svemirko he put out the first singles in 2015, starting with "Zbogom proleteri" in July and "Noćni pokreti", and for two years he kept his identity hidden. He revealed it in 2017 with the first album, Vanilija, which was first released on VHS tape by the Zagreb label više manje zauvijek.

Vanilija was followed by Tunguzija in 2018 and Skalamerija in 2020. The three records form what the band calls the "-ija" trilogy, and by 2024 they described it as finished. Croatian Wikipedia names Darko Rundek and Haustor among their influences.

Vuković writes the songs, sings, plays several instruments and produces his own work, with friends completing the band on stage. The current line-up named by Croatian Wikipedia is Vuković, Antonio Bošnjak and Dario Sušanj; in 2024 the band played as a trio, with Marko on second guitar, bass, synth and vocals. Earlier members included Marin Tandara, Branimir Blažević, Silvia Grilec, Mate Ponjević and Bojan Bojko.

Svemirko play often in Serbia as well as in Croatia. In autumn 2024 they toured Belgrade's Dom omladine, Novi Sad and Niš, and a festival bio called them one of the most appealing acts of the regional underground scene. Later songs include "Jedina" and "Karanfili" (2024) and the duet "Nosi me na duši" (2023). The playlist here is the whole album Vanilija.
