About Straight Jackin
Straight Jackin is a Serbian rap-core band led by Jugoslav Petrović, known as JP. It was founded in 1994 in Saint Petersburg, where Petrović was studying directing and became part of the city's underground music scene. Under the strong influence of hip hop, he formed the band with several members of the ska and reggae group Markscheider Kunst. In June 1994 they recorded their first song and video, "Sin mafije", and at the end of the year played their first concert at the Saint Petersburg club TAM-TAM. In April 1996 they recorded their first album at Melody Music Studios.
In 1996 Petrović returned to Serbia, and the band's Belgrade phase began. Drummer Nebojša Adamović and guitarist Dejan Đorović joined, and in October 1996 Metropolis Records released the debut album Ulaz se otvara češće on cassette, reissued on CD in January 1997. Bassist Saša Đokić joined, and videos were made for "Sin mafije", "Malo sreće" and "Džahrastafaraj". Their first Belgrade concert was at the SKC in May 1997.
The second album, Džahrastafaraj, came out on City Records in August 1998, with a strong reggae influence that went back to the bands Petrović had heard at TAM-TAM. It made a big impression on the Serbian underground, with videos for "ZES" and "GAN". Adamović and Đorović left in 2002; with guitarist Miodrag Šuša, drummer Slobodan Jurišić and producer Igor Borojević, the band made the album 004 for Bassivity, with videos for "Lopove, narkomane", "Ferdinand", "Izvini Džah", "Zašto da čekamo?" and "Ludnica".
Later the band worked on a fourth album, Gde druzja?, partly recorded with the original Saint Petersburg line-up. Their videos are gathered here in one playlist.
