About Braća Left
Braća Left, "The Left Brothers", are an alternative rock band formed in Belgrade in 1992 and one of the notable acts of the 1990s Serbian rock scene. The founders were two former members of Oktobar 1864, the guitarist Goran Tomanović and his brother Ljuba Tomanović on bass, together with two former members of Armagedon, the guitarist Miodrag Šuša and the drummer Goran Milanović. Tomanović and Šuša shared the lead vocals; Mile Kokotović Kremba also played bass for a while.
In the spring of 1994 they released their debut album, Braća Left 1, on the label ITMM. Recorded at Belgrade's Go-Go studio in January 1994 and produced by Vojislav "Voja" Aralica, it held eleven songs written by the band and left behind the funk rock of Oktobar 1864 for a straighter rock sound with alternative touches. That year "Ćao bejbi" and "Zaboravljaš", both with promotional videos, appeared on the ITMM compilation New Rock Power '93-94.
Their second album, Braća Left 2, was recorded in July 1996, again at Go-Go with Aralica producing. It included "Aikido", which got its own video, and "Anđeo" with the former Oktobar 1864 singer Tanja Jovićević on backing vocals. In 2021 it was voted 81st among the 100 best Serbian albums since the break-up of Yugoslavia in the book Kako (ni)je propao rokenrol u Srbiji, and in 2013 the band Bjesovi covered "Aikido".
After the second album the band stopped working. Šuša joined the rapcore band Straight Jackin' and also worked as a painter and actor, and Goran Tomanović became a music editor at City Records and in 2000 formed the electronic group Manú. Recently the band has been back: their official channel released a lyric video for "Jaši" in 2024, a new song, "Prah", in 2025, and a live session recorded at Studio 803 in Belgrade with "Ćao bejbi", "Jaši", "Dobra vest" and "Rita". Their videos are gathered here in one playlist.
