About Next Time
Next Time is a rock and pop duo from Skopje, formed by the twin brothers Stefan Filipovski, on lead vocals, and Martin Filipovski, on guitar and backing vocals. They started in early 2008, after signing with Plan B Production, and a year later they represented Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest.
The composer Jovan Jovanov discovered them and produced their first single, "Ne veruvam vo tebe", in May 2008. The rest of the year moved fast: "Me misliš li?" was named summer hit of the year at the radio festival Zvezdena nok in June, "Me ostavi sam da živeam" won them Best New Artist at Ohrid Fest in August, and at Makfest in October they won the second semi-final and finished second in the final, three points behind the winner, with "Bez tebe tivko umiram". Their self-titled debut album came out on 16 December 2008, thirteen songs including the English "Why Did You Go" and a cover of "Caruso".
On 21 February 2009 they won Skopje Fest with "Nešto što ḱe ostane", written by Jovan Jovanov, Damjan Lazarov and Elvir Mekić. In Moscow they sang in the first semi-final on 12 May 2009 and finished tenth with 45 points, but the tenth place in the final went to the choice of backup juries, Finland, so they missed it. They followed Tamara Todevska, Vrčak and Adrian Gaxha as Macedonia's entry and were followed by Gjoko Taneski. On 24 December 2009 they played Universal Hall in Skopje.
Singles such as "Milion", "Ubava", "Ramo za plačenje", "Na krajot od denot", "Lice od raj" and "Rap n Roll" with Toni Zen followed, and the MARS festival named one of their songs hit of the year every year from 2008 to 2012. In Croatia they won the Marco Polo festival in Korčula in 2011 with "Nedostaješ mi več" and came second there in 2012. Their second album was called Na krajot na denot, and the Zlatna buba awards named them Best New Artist of 2009.
Later the brothers turned to Macedonian traditional songs: "Ja izlezi Gjurgjo" (2014), also recorded with Lozano, "Slušam kaj šumat šumite", "Jovka Kumanovka" and "Koga padna na Pirina", whose video won the Zlatna buba for best video in 2022. They became the album Majka (2022), made over eight years. In 2018 Next Time played eight concerts of the "Edna ljubov" festival in North Macedonia and Bulgaria, and in spring 2024 they toured Australia, from Sydney and Melbourne to Perth.
