About Tamara Todevska
Tamara Todevska, often billed simply as Tamara, is a Macedonian pop singer born on 1 June 1985 in Skopje. She grew up in a musical family: her father, Velko Todevski, teaches at a music school, and her mother, Brana, is an opera singer, whose influence is linked to Tamara's operatic way of singing. Her older sister is the singer Tijana Dapčević, and the two have recorded together several times.
Her first official song came early. In 1997 the sisters sang the duet "Igra luda" at Skopje Fest, and in 2002 she released the singles "Dali znam" and "Koga bi mozela", the second at Ohrid Fest. Her breakthrough came in 2003 with "1003", which took second place at the festival in Budva, Montenegro.
From 2004 she worked with the producer Aleksandar Masevski, and in 2005 she released her debut album, Sino, which was named album of the year. A run of festival successes followed: she won Makfest in 2006 with "Sedmo nebo", recorded with Vrčak, and in 2007 she finished second in the Macedonian Eurovision selection with "Kaži koj si ti".
In 2008 she won Skopje Fest with "Vo ime na ljubovta", sung with Vrčak and Adrian Gaxha. In its English version, "Let Me Love You", the trio represented Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade, where they finished tenth in the second semi-final, just short of the final. Around the same time she released songs such as "Dajem ti sve", "Usne ko krv" and "Šarena pesna".
Her second album, Eden den, followed in 2015. In 2019 she returned to Eurovision, this time alone, with the ballad "Proud" in Tel Aviv. The song won the jury vote and finished seventh in the final with 305 points, the best result North Macedonia has ever had at the contest. That same year she also placed fifth at the Albanian festival Kënga Magjike with "Monsters".
Tamara Todevska has kept releasing new music since, including "Sloboda" and its English version "Rise", "Porok", "Nijagara", "Svetot e" with Robert Bilbilov and "Lavirint" with Igor Dzambazov. In 2026 she released the album Kukla živa, with the songs "Drama Queen", "Kukla živa" and "Diva".
