About Dani Dimitrovska
Daniela "Dani" Dimitrovska is a Macedonian pop singer, born in Skopje on 4 June 1979. She has released three studio albums: Ti da me imaš (2006), Vo megjuvreme (2010) and Grad za ljubov (2017).
She started out at Makfest in Štip with "Samo ti mi trebaš", a song both the audience and the press took to. In 2000 she sang "A nekogaš" in the Macedonian national selection for Eurovision, and in 2001 "Site dragi lugje" won her the award for best interpretation at Skopje Fest. That year she also began her long partnership with producer, composer and lyricist Vesna Malinova. From 2002 to 2005 she stepped back from the stage to raise her young son.
Her comeback at Makfest 2005 with "Ostavam se" was followed by "Srca dve", her biggest hit. It spent a record 30 days at number one in Macedonia and took her onto MTV Adria, where she became the first Macedonian singer in the MTV Adria Top 20. Her debut album Ti da me imaš followed in 2006 and was a success at home and across the region.
The years 2007 and 2008 were her busiest. The video for "Crveni doždovi" reached the MTV Adria Top 20, MTV nominated her for New Sounds of Europe at the 2007 MTV Europe Music Awards, and "Najdobra" won best interpretation and the second audience prize at Makfest 2007. She won Zlatna Bubamara awards in 2007 and 2008, and in August 2008 she won Ohrid Fest with "Nikoj kako ti".
Her second album, Vo megjuvreme, was launched on 30 December 2010, with singles such as "Ne živeam za drugite" and "Posle tebe", and in 2011 she released "Borci" with the rapper Skit Skitara. For years she also worked as a youth ambassador in the UNFPA campaign against AIDS. Her song "My Life" became the anthem of the anti-AIDS campaign in South-East Europe.
After Grad za ljubov in 2017, Dimitrovska recorded acoustic ethno-jazz versions of Macedonian songs in 2021, including "Karanfilo filfilo mome", "Belo lice ljubam jas" and "Dejgidi, ludi mladi godini". In 2022 she released "Begame", a duet with Pijan Slavej from Bitola, written and produced by Vesna Malinova.
