Funk Shui

Funk Shui are a rock band from Skopje, North Macedonia, founded in 2010. They are on Muzika-Balkan because they are a Skopje band and are still based there; they sing in Macedonian. Their music mixes funk with ethno-techno and touches of dubstep, and the band says it cares more about a feeling than a genre.

The founding members were Luka Gjorgievski on vocals, guitar and piano, David Nikolovski on drums and Stefan Stojanov on bass; Mihail Namichev later took over the bass. Recent line-ups also include Martina Barakoska on drums, Stefan Momić on percussion and Dragi Ivanov on guitar. The songs are written by the whole band.

After the demo EP Got Funk? (2010) their debut album Aether came out on InterMedia in 2012, followed by R.E.M. on 22 Records in 2015 and the EP Impuls in 2018. Singles from these years include "Arhiv na grad Skopje", "Ogledala", "Grla jarci", "Touch and Go", "Me gazat" with Risto Solunčev, "Arhetip" and "Stakleni nože".

"Meteori" was voted single of the year 2020 by the readers of the regional portal Balkanrock, and the band was a finalist for the HEMI Music Awards in 2021. Their third album, Nikogaš pak, came out on 31 March 2023 and was launched with two sold-out nights in Skopje; its video "Čaj" was put together from footage of their summer tour. They have played showcases such as Eurosonic, MENT Ljubljana and Athens Music Week, and toured Britain, Poland, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands.

The playlist is the band's own collection of its earlier videos, from "Prime Time" and "Ogledala" to "Viulica / Somneži?".
