About Killo Killo Banda

Killo Killo Banda is a reggae band from Novi Sad, formed in 2007 around singer and songwriter Vojislav "Voja" Malešev. Born in Novi Sad, Malešev sings in the opera chorus of the Serbian National Theatre and is also known as DJ Killo Killo, a reggae and ragga MC who has played across the former Yugoslavia and in cities such as Paris, Vienna and Rio de Janeiro. He also fronts the band Drum'n'Zez.

Reggae is the heart of the band's sound, mixed with afro-funk, rocksteady, dub and hip-hop, and Malešev switches between Serbian and English. The second album, Berba, came out on the Exit label. Ipak borba followed in 2016, with "Kamuflaže" featuring Wacko of MadRed, "Serious Times" with Hornsman Coyote and "Energie", recorded with Viktor Laskai and Edo Maajka; the band played "Kamuflaže" on the Main Stage of the EXIT festival.

The fourth album, Pobeda je biti čovek, was released in July 2021 as the 101st release of SKC Novi Sad: eleven new songs and a remix, recorded in 2020 under difficult circumstances. The lyrics, all by Malešev, look at everyday life with humour and self-irony. That line-up had Zoran Tegeltija on drums, Lazar Novkov on keyboards, Minja Dabović on bass, Dejan Matić on guitar and Dušan Rašković on percussion. Their songs are gathered here.
