About dreDDup

dreDDup is an industrial rock and electronic band from Novi Sad, formed in 1997 by the guitarist and singer Mihajlo Obrenov and the drummer and singer Robert Sabadoš. Its music mixes industrial rock with big beat and electronics. The first releases were demo tapes and cassette EPs and Abnormal Waltz (1998), a soundtrack for an unfinished film, and the early songs were played on Radio 021 in Novi Sad.

Sabadoš left in 2000 and Obrenov took over the vocals, and he has been the one constant in many line-ups since. The album Mr Borndeads Feast came out on the Dutch label MoocSound in 2004, followed by Future Porn Machine (2007) and El Conquistadors (2009) on Insurrection in Belgrade. The Croatian magazine Terapija named El Conquistadors the second-best Balkan album of 2009, and the documentary Industrial Renaissance came out with it on DVD. In July 2009 the band played EXIT alongside Deathstars and gave its first concert abroad, in Vienna.

The self-titled dreDDup (2011) came out on an American label and Nautilus on Glory & Honour. On 9 June 2012 the band opened for Laibach and Marilyn Manson at the IQ Music festival, that September it played The Prodigy's Warriors Dance Festival, and at EXIT 2012 it opened for Toy Dolls. The 2013 single "Etika" featured Dario Seraval of Borghesia. Later albums were I Dreamt of a Dragon (2014), DeathOven: Rebels Have No Kings (2016), Soyuz (2018), Romance of Romans (2021) and Pan/Dora (2024).

The band has also made music for theatre, film and RTS, and for the RTV Slovenija series Radar, and toured France, Switzerland, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary. For its 25th anniversary in 2022 it shot ten new videos for older singles, bringing its total to 68 videos, which en.wikipedia calls a record for a Serbian alternative band. The playlist gathers its official music videos, old and new.
