About Goca Božinovska

Goca Božinovska, born Gordana Božinovska on 16 January 1965 in the village of Samaila near Kraljevo, is a Serbian folk singer. She began as a kafana singer in the restaurants along the Ibar Highway, and in those years she lived with Vesna Zmijanac. She has named Šaban Šaulić as someone who helped her launch her career.

Her first album, Ti mi beše od zlata jabuka, came out in 1984 but went largely unnoticed, as did Ne idi (1987) and Želim da me želiš (1989). Her fourth album arrived only in 1997, and with it her first hit, "Još sam jaka". The next album, Okovi (1998), did even better: "Životna greška" and "Ili idi, ili ja ću" were well received, and the title song "Okovi" became one of the most popular songs in the country and the biggest hit of her career.

Later songs that found an audience include "Opomena", "Sa mnom se nemoj nadati sreći", "Ja njegova, a ti njen", "Magija", "Put pod noge" and "Kaznio me život", a duet with Enes Begović. Her 2003 album was the most successful she ever made: almost every song became a hit, among them "Neodoljivo", "U najboljim godinama", "Gorko kajanje", "Dala sam oglas", "Nikad prva, uvek druga" and "Kazna". That year she also sang "Ljubav iz računa" with Jašar Ahmedovski.

In 2008 she recorded the duet "Moja stara drugarice" with her colleague and close friend Zlata Petrović, for Zlata's album Hajde čik. In 2013 she was one of the biggest names on the reality show Farma and stayed until the final, and after the show she released the single "Koga da krivim".

She has three children. Her daughter Jelena Vučković is also a singer and was one of the finalists of Zvezde Granda.
