About Dzeny
Dzeny is the stage name of Dženita Zekić, a Bosnian singer-songwriter born on 31 January 1987. She was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina and spent her first years in Dubrovnik and Gacko; in 1993, because of the war, her family left home and settled in Sweden, and she grew up in Gothenburg.
Music came early. At the age of nine she began recording and mixing songs on a computer recording program, and when she joined a music class at Bergsjöskolan she started to sing, dance and play instruments, learning drums, piano and guitar. She later studied systems science at university while learning the recording and mastering side of music herself.
In 2011 she was one of the finalists of the sixth season of Zvijezda možeš biti ti, the Bosnian version of Idol, chosen from some 11,000 applicants. In 2012 she recorded the single "Kad zvona zazvone" with Fahrudin Pecikoza and Mahir Sarihodžić, which was picked up by many media outlets in Bosnia and Herzegovina; her website says it reached number six on a major Bosnian chart. Her debut album, Žena zvijer, followed in December 2014 with NTV Hayat.
That same year the Bosnian foundation Mozaik.ba nominated her for Philanthropist of the Year. After years with various independent labels she now runs her career herself, working with several producers on songs such as "Još te uvijek želim", "Hej živote" and "Sve se vraća", and she still performs live in Gothenburg.
