About Miralem Kruškić

Miralem Kruškić was a Bosnian singer and entertainer, born on 12 July 1937 in Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is why he is on Muzika-Balkan under Bosnia. He took his first steps as a singer in Doboj, lived and worked in Sarajevo, and died there on 16 September 2011. In his time he was called the home-grown Rocco Granata.

He is best remembered for "Elvira", "Manuela", "Nisam ti značio ništa", "16 godina", "Đermanina", "Krovovi", "Ljiljana" and "O, Džozefin", and for his version of "Četiri mladića idu s Trebevića". "Nisam ti značio ništa" was written for him by Kornelije Kovač, and one of his earliest songs, "Za ljubav jedne ljubavi", by Đorđe Novković.

In 1967 PGP RTB released his EP "Svake noći sa tobom, majko", four Italian hits sung in his own language: the title song ("Ogni sera accanto a te"), "Nisam ti značio ništa", "Kada ćeš mi vjerovati" ("Non mi chiedi mai") and "Marju". He also wrote songs for other singers, among them "Ostani, ostani" for Beba Selimović, "Sam na svijetu" for Zaim Imamović and "Neću više plakati" for Zehra Deović.

Later he sang with the octet Preporod, in the years when Radio-Television Sarajevo had composers such as Srđan Matijević, Ladislav Bezuljak and Žarko Roje and singers such as Boško Orobović, Milan Eterović, Vedo Hamšić and Sabahudin Kurt. For most of his career he worked as a journalist at Radio-Television Sarajevo, hosting and editing the programmes Želje i pozdravi, Radioplov, Antena and Miralem i gosti.

He married his wife Tima in 1967, after meeting her at a concert in Zenica, and they had two children. Only a few of his recordings can be found online today; the playlist gathers two songs from his 1967 EP.
