About Dragan Vučić

Dragan Vučić was a Macedonian singer, composer, bass guitarist and television host. He was born on 6 September 1955 in Skopje and was active in music from the mid-1970s until his death in 2020, working mostly in Macedonian music and pop-folk.

In the 1980s he played bass and sang in the pop-folk band Tavče Gravče. In the 1990s he fronted another pop-folk group, Koda, as lead singer and bassist. Alongside the bands he wrote and sang his own songs, and his best known include "Svirajte mi zajdi zajdi", "Anđeli me vode" and "Kaži zvezdo". "Svirajte mi zajdi zajdi", which he recorded with Vesna Vučić, who also composed it, appeared on the album Biće sreće.

As a composer he also wrote for others. His song "Ti si son" was sung by his son, Martin Vučić, and won the Macedonian national selection, Makedonski Evrosong, held at the Universal Hall in Skopje on 19 February 2005, in a second round of voting. In its English version, "Make My Day", it represented Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, where it came through the semi-final and finished seventeenth in the final with 52 points.

He was also a host on Macedonian television for many years. His first show as a host was "Vašite 5 minuti" on Sitel TV in 2000. On Kanal 5 he presented "Nekogaš i sega", the talk show "Na tursko kafe so...", for which he interviewed Turkish actors, the quiz "Srekni kocki" and "Srekni luǵe", the last two later moving to Alfa TV. He went on to "Vozenje so Vučiḱ" on 1TV and, from 2019, "Gurmanski muabeti" on TV Telma, with guests from across the former Yugoslavia, which was his last show.

Dragan Vučić died on 4 May 2020 at the infectious diseases clinic in Skopje, after complications from COVID-19, which he had contracted in April that year.
