About CAMBI.
CAMBI. is a vocal group from Split that sings Dalmatian klapa songs and Mediterranean pop. It grew out of Klapa Cambi, founded in 1986 in Kaštel Kambelovac: in 2007 nine of its eleven singers left and carried on in Split, while the original klapa continued in Kaštel Kambelovac as Klapa Cambi. Both groups kept the Cambi name, and the right to it went to court; for years the Split singers appeared at festivals as Klapa Cambi Split.
In 2011 they released the album Zar više nema nas on Croatia Records, klapa versions of pop songs together with "Ultima partenca". That summer "Ultima partenca" won the expert jury's first prize at the 51st Split Festival, and Zoran Popović's words for it the award for best lyrics. A video of the group singing as guests at a 2010 Zdravko Čolić concert in Split led Kornelije Kovač of Korni Grupa to offer them a collaboration. The result was Piva klapa Kornelija (2012), klapa arrangements of Kovač's songs, most of them from Čolić's repertoire, produced by Kovač and Olja Dešić and released in Serbia as well. The tenor Vladimir Garić and the baritone Toni Kesić sang with the group in those years.
Trnje i svila followed in 2014, with "Svjetla daljine", "Jidra mog vapora", "Pričaj mi Dalmaciju" and "Zapuvala je bura". In 2020 the singers dropped the word klapa, shortened the name to CAMBI. and added a backing band. They then counted seven singers, with four lead voices: Jure Nikolić, Sandro Gerbec, Luka Čulić and Joško Tranfić, a soloist at the Croatian National Theatre in Split. That year their version of "Zovem prijatelje moje" with Giuliano brought the evergreen back into the spotlight.
At Dora 2021, the Croatian selection for Eurovision, CAMBI. sang "Zaljubljen", written by Marija Mirković of The Frajle, and finished fourth of fourteen. A few months later "Bambina mia", sung with TBF and the actresses Ana Uršula Najev and Jagoda Kumrić as ST Koke, won the audience and journalists' prizes at the 61st Split Festival. Its video, directed by Milan Latković, goes back to the Split of the 1980s, with the basketball player Dino Rađa in a cameo.
Later singles include "Od milijun samo jedna", "Ruka u ruci", "Samo kraj mene živjela si", "Negdje" and "Ne dirajte mi ljubav". On 4 October 2025 CAMBI. and Giuliano played their first joint concert, named after "Zovem prijatelje moje", at the Lisinski hall in Zagreb, where Đani Stipaničev joined the group for "Cesarica".
